Camping!!

Last weekend we went camping up at Black Rock, a little ways from Idaho City. We had gone there with my family when Eden was about 1 and we thought it would be fun! We were right! We had a great time!

The first night we made "camp hats" with some foam visors and stickers. The kids had such a fun time and wore them all weekend!

Later that night we made the campfire and made some yummy smores!

The next morning Eric got all the fishing poles ready to go and we went down to the river. Eden actually caught a little one but it got away just at the last second. Later in the evening we went down again and I found the sweet spot! Jude and I (he was in a carrier strapped to my front) caught 2 fish in a row! It was great!

Later in the afternoon we went back down to the river to swim. The kids found this cute little "pool" that was on the bank surrounded by rocks so we sat in that and splashed around. The kids threw rocks and Jude was happy as can be sitting in the water and splashing around!

It was a great weekend filled with lots of quality time together, I hope we made some great memories that the kids will charish for years to come!
I just realized that I forgot to post pics of the kids and the walking sticks they made! Unfortunatly I am tired and the blogger formatting for adding pictures is soooo stupid I am not going to add them! Needless to say we also made some fun walking sticks! We also had a great camp site with a lot of room so we were able to set up a net for volleyball and set up a small baseball field. It was so cute to watch Jonas play baseball, he would hit the ball then run to first, then the pitchers mound then home. He made it pretty obvious we are not a baseball family....but wow, you should see that boy throw a football!

Fun in the Sun!

Our Alburquerque cousins came up for a few weeks to stay with Grandma and since we are living with Grandma too we had lots of play time together! Sister Hanson from Grandmas ward invited us all over to have FHE at her house. We all got to swim in her pool and have pizza, it was a great time! This was Jude's first time to go swimming and he loved it! He just smiled and splashed with his hands, he did't cry once, not even when he splashed himself in the face!

I had lots of fun with my new camera, I am still trying to figure out all the fancy features. I sure love to take good pictures of my beautiful children!

Chickens love Yogurt!

Did you know that you can feed your chickens plain yogurt? I was doing some research about our chickens and found out that they like yogurt so I went out and bought some to see if it was true. As you can see it is!

It is really cute how they all swarm around the bowl and fight to get in. They dive their beaks is and come up with yogurt all over themselves. Then they shake their heads like a dog to get the excess off which ends up on the other chickens. Then they try to clean off each other. When they are all done they wipe the beaks off on the grass. When we go to get the bowl it is scraped clean, you can see beak marks in the yogurt that is left. Now when we go out to see the girls they look at you like, "wher is my yogurt!"

Chcken Coops!

This is our inspiration coop that I found on a great website, I think it is soo cute and I won't mind seeing it in our backyard! This is all I could think and talk about when it came to the chicken coop planning and our old friend Mike saw a post I did on FB. His family was also starting the chicken adventure and so he suggested he and Eric make them together! What FUN!

So with nothing but pictures of our inspiration coop and 2 very excited wives Eric and Mike started the building process! We are very proud of our thrifty coops. Mike found most of the wood at building sites from the dump bins and Eric has found siding the same way!

Eric and Mike have been friends since they were 16 so this has been a really fun time to spend together! You can just see the "man power"they are experiencing! They are building 2 identical coops at the same time, they are so awsome!

The siding is starting! I am sooo excited to paint it! I found a cute white cast iron trivet for $5 to use as the decrative window in the peak and then we went to the Restore and found some great blue paint for $5 some white trim paint for $0.80 and cute hinges for $1 each. These are some pretty thrifty coops! We will post more progress reports soon and some pics of the chickens, they are getting huge!

We've gone country!!!

Now that we are living on an acre we decided to go a little country and get some chickens!
We went to Zamzows and let each of the kids pick one, even Jude! It all worked out well, each one picked a different breed so we will be able to tell them apart!

Jonas got a barred rock chicken, it will be black and white. His name changes on a daily basis!

Eden got an Ameruacana, it will lay blue and green eggs. She named her Buttercup!

Jude (you can tell he is really excited) has a brown leghorn who I refer to as Gertrude.

Logan got a golden sexlink, he named her Reeces!

My baby boy is 8!

I can't believe that my 2nd child has turned 8!! I don't feel any older then 21 or so! How did this happen! This last Saturday Logan was baptized, which he was sooo excited about! Everytime he would talk about it he would get a huge grin on his face and say, "It looks fun!"

To get ready for the big day we went shopping for his very own suit! We looked at a few and he choose this one, he called it his, "snazzy suit" he loves it!

On the big day we took Logan shopping at Seagull book so he could choose his very own CTR ring. They had quite a few to choose from and he loves this one, he likes to show it to everyone!

We were part of the stake baptism, but were last so it was still nice and intimate. We were able to have a family testimony meeting while we waited for Eric and Logan to come out. It was a very nice day!
